Whystock is operated by Bureau7 LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use whystock.app, why we collect it, and your rights over it.

2. Data we collect

When you sign in or subscribe, we collect:

• Account data — your name and email address, provided via Google OAuth.
• Subscription data — your plan status and billing dates. Payment card details are processed and stored exclusively by Stripe; we never see or store them.
• Usage data — tickers you search, features you use, and pages you visit, used to improve the platform.
• Locally stored data — your watchlist and recent searches are stored in your browser's local storage and are not transmitted to our servers.

3. How we use your data

• To authenticate you and manage your account.
• To process subscription payments via Stripe.
• To send transactional emails (trial expiry reminders, billing receipts). We do not send marketing emails.
• To monitor platform health and fix bugs.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third parties, each with their own privacy policy:

• Google OAuth — sign-in authentication.
• Stripe — payment processing. Your card data goes directly to Stripe and is never stored by us.
• Google Gemini — AI-generated analysis. Ticker queries may be sent to Google's API to generate narratives. We do not send personal data to Gemini.
• Google Cloud / Firebase — hosting and database infrastructure.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share data with the third-party service providers listed above, strictly to operate the platform.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. billing records).

7. Your rights

8. Cookies & local storage

We use a session cookie for authentication (NextAuth). Your watchlist and recent searches are stored in browser local storage — this data never leaves your device. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the date at the top of this page.
